"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Detroit center fielder Felix Pie said to SION reporters after his fantastic 5-5 day against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."
The Tigers had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 6-5.
F. Pie singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Pie on the season is hitting .283 with 3 home runs. His stats include 22 RBIs and 73 runs scored.

 | Monday, September 7th, 2009: Eastern League Pitcher of the Month Award Captured by Tyler Clippard of the Akron Aeros
Akron Aeros starter Tyler Clippard has collected the EL Pitcher of the Month award for a run of lights-out performances. In June the 22-year-old compiled a 5-1 record in 6 games started. He threw 42.2 innings, fanning 39 batters while walking 18.
"This town really appreciates it when you're going well," said Clippard. "They might boo you when you're getting banged around, but they love you when you're firing BBs."
Clippard has put together a respectable season so far. The 22-year-old pitcher has won 13 and lost 2, collecting 105 strikeouts and 41 bases on balls in 120.2 innings with a 2.31 ERA. Opponents have hit .208 against him.
