Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009: Cardinals Triumph in 2009 World Series
It was a hard fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, to the victors go the spoils: St. Louis got the Major League Baseball World Series trophy today with a 6-3 victory over Seattle at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals won their 1st championship after taking the series with the Mariners 4-3.

"They've got grit!" one fan told SION, "They know how to win when they have to. They're the League Champions!"

The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first place finish in the National League Central Division and a 105-57 won-loss record.
Thursday, October 1st, 2009: September's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Romero
Which American League hurler dominated in the month of September?
According to the voters who decide the American League Pitcher of the Month award, it was Ricky Romero of the Seattle Mariners.

He put together a record of 5-1 with an ERA of 2.54 in 7 starting assignments. In addition, he struck out 61 in 49.2 innings.

In 2009 Romero has a 25-6 record with a 3.02 ERA.

Scott Thorman really put on a show in September, earning the Batter of the Month Award in the American League!

The Seattle first baseman batted .417 with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs, 27 runs scored, along with 9 walks to compile a .456 on-base percentage.

Thorman is currently batting .321 with 29 home runs and 85 RBIs.
