Tuesday, September 8th, 2009: Blake Strokes 5 Hits
On top of the GCL (DET) hit parade today was Gus Blake. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Tigers to victory 19-1 over the Missoula Osprey. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-6 performance.

The sweet swinging first baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."

The skipper of the Osprey wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

G. Blake singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 8th.

So far this season Blake is hitting .406 with 11 home runs, 69 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He has 116 hits in 286 at-bats and a .471 OBP.
