Arizona League 10-27-2007 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Wednesday, September 19th, 2007: Arizona League Names #1 Hitter Tim Turner of the AZL (ANA) Angels had a spectacular season this year and today was named the AZL's Outstanding Hitter Award for 2007.
The 25-year-old center fielder put up a .359 average and .433 on-base percentage, piling up 79 hits, 14 doubles, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 40 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
For being named the AZL's best batter Turner will be honored this weekend at the annual SION Baseball Writers awards banquet. |  | Tuesday, September 18th, 2007: Antelo Named AZL Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner All the games have been played, all the votes have been counted and the recipient of the prestigious Arizona League Outstanding Pitcher Award is Tonio Antelo of the Omaha Royals.
The superb relief artist fashioned a fine 1.93 ERA, making no relief appearances and totaling 65.1 innings. Antelo permitted 49 hits, 18 walks and a .202 average. On the other hand he put together 74 strikeouts, a 7-0 record and no saves.
This weekend the SION Baseball Writers Association will present his award to Antelo at its annual awards dinner. | | | | |
