Thursday, October 8th, 2009: SALLY Gives out Outstanding Hitter Award, Hill Gets Prize
Jamar Hill had a sensational 2009 season against South Atlantic League pitchers and was acclaimed the league's Outstanding Hitter Award today.

The Hickory right fielder hit .333 and collected 141 hits, 17 home runs, 76 RBIs and scored 75 times to win the coveted trophy.

This weekend Hill will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009: Yarbro Voted SALLY Outstanding Pitcher Award
The spotlight today is on Joe Yarbro of the Rome Braves.
He was named the top pitcher in the South Atlantic League and will be honored with the 2009 Outstanding Pitcher Award.

In 235 innings of work and 40 starts, the Braves star struck out 171 while giving up 213 hits and 54 walks. He limited opposing batters to a .237 average.

This weekend the talented hurler will be given his trophy by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009: SALLY Best Gloves of 2009 Chosen
It's been said that the best offense is a good defense. That's why contending teams are always looking to improve on the defensive side of the game. Keeping runs from scoring is just as good as driving them in and tonight, at the annual SION sports banquet, the guys who wow us with the leather will be honored. The top defenders have been chosen in the South Atlantic League for the 2009 Glove Wizard Award selections. Here are the winners:

Left Fielder: Estee Izabel (Greensboro Grasshoppers)
Center Fielder: Paco Molena (Lexington Legends)
