| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007: Costanzo Nabs CAR Outstanding Hitter Award
Michael Costanzo put together a tremendous season at the plate for Salem, capturing one of baseball's most coveted offensive trophies, the Carolina League Outstanding Hitter Award.
He posted a .336 batting average and .440 on-base percentage this year while reeling off 187 hits, 28 doubles, 2 triples, 27 home runs and 127 RBIs.
For being named the CAR's top hitter, Costanzo will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend.

Jeffrey Gray had an exceptional season in 2007. This Potomac mound mainstay captured the most votes and has been named the CAR Outstanding Pitcher Award honoree.
He posted these award-winning numbers this year:
18-7 record, 2.53 ERA, 29 GS, 206.1 IP, 177 HA, 48 BB, 141 K, .227 OBA.
The SBWA will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.
