Sunday, September 27th, 2009: Eric Campbell Chosen EL's Premier Hitter
The Eastern League has selected its Outstanding Hitter Award for 2009 and the honor went to Eric Campbell, Erie's fine third baseman.

He starred this season with a .323 batting average, 164 hits, 41 home runs, 135 RBIs, .364 OBP and 104 runs scored.

For being named the EL's best batter Campbell will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend.
Saturday, September 26th, 2009: 2009 EL Outstanding Pitcher Award Chosen
Poise, confidence and good stuff -- a great combination that brought Danny Borrell the Eastern League Outstanding Pitcher Award this year. This Erie mound star excelled all season long with an impressive 19-2 mark.

In 28 starts Borrell tossed 192.2 innings, fashioning an impressive 3.08 ERA. He held opposing hitters to a .247 average, struck out 136 and walked 53.

This weekend Borrell will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.
Friday, September 25th, 2009: EL Announces 2009 Top Gloves
It's been said that the best offense is a good defense. That's why contending teams are always looking to improve on the defensive side of the game. Keeping runs from scoring is just as good as driving them in and tonight, at the annual SION sports banquet, the guys who wow us with the leather will be honored. The top defenders have been chosen in the Eastern League for the 2009 Glove Wizard Award selections. Here are the winners:
