Tuesday, July 28th, 2009: Carpenter Gives Boston Goose Eggs!
Chris Carpenter of Oakland easily handled the Boston Red Sox, stopping them on 4 hits and chucking a complete game 4-0 shutout.

"He really did a job on us," said the Boston manager. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and pretty much confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us."

Carpenter said, "Everything was working for me. Throwing my breaking stuff over the plate was big."

He finished the game with 11 strikeouts and 2 walks in a solid outing.

On his stats sheet this season Carpenter shows a 14-3 record, 20 starts, 154.2 innings, 179 strikeouts and a 1.98 ERA.
