Tuesday, October 6th, 2009: Best Batter Named by International League
His solid numbers speak for themselves. That's why Jonathan Van Every of the Rochester Red Wings was named the International League Outstanding Hitter Award in 2009.

He completed this award-winning season with a .321 batting average, 164 hits, 22 home runs, 84 RBIs, .416 OBP and 95 runs scored.

This weekend the SION Baseball Writers Association will present the trophy to Van Every for being the IL's top-rated batter. He will receive it at the SBWA's annual awards dinner.
Monday, October 5th, 2009: IL Awards Outstanding Pitcher Trophy
All the votes have been tabulated for the 2009 International League Outstanding Pitcher Award. The much-sought award has been given to Enmanuel Ulloa of the Norfolk Tides, who piled up 17 wins this season with an impressive 3.00 ERA.

It was quite a year for the 30-year-old pitcher. In 29 starts Ulloa had a 17-6 mark with 150 strikeouts in 201.1 innings.

The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.
Sunday, October 4th, 2009: IL Honors Top Glovemen for 2009
Defense is a critical element in the game of baseball. Many times late in the game, a light-hitting defensive specialist will be inserted in place of a superstar hitter.

Good defenders are worth their weight in gold and tonight at the annual SION sports awards banquet the best of them will be recognized. These quiet heroes will be honored with the 2009 International League Glove Wizard Award.
